A personal project, illustrating one of my favorite fairy tales, a story of magic, horror and courage.
I have chosen an image of the swan bothers flying over the Fata Morgana palace for the cover. Such dreamy landscapes have always fascinated me, feeding imagination.
An image of Elisa bathing in bewitched water and turning ugly frogs into red poppies was also enthralling.

And, finally, the graveyard with magic nettle, graves and vampires was genuinely haunting. I didn’t draw the flesh eating ghouls, though, as some things are better left to imagination. :)
